Senior Programme Manager -Sahel

This position is my passion and align profoundly with who I am. As a kid, despite my parent’s wise advice, I constantly found myself in trouble for backing up, advocating or taking the blame for all the persons I perceived as in need. As an adult, I decided to turn that into a profession. In Burkina Faso, I have witnessed how access to justice is vital to peace and stability. With HiiL, I want to harvest and propose justice solutions so that the people, in Burkina Faso and accross Sahel, have a chance at leaving peacefully and realize their full potential.

Marie Duprez-Compaoré is senior programme manager for Sahel (Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger) at the Hague Institute for Innovation of Law (HiiL). In her role, she oversees the implementation of HiiL’s projects across the Sahel countries and coordinates activities with a diverse and enthusiastic team.

After a master’s degree iin international humanitarian law, Marie Duprez has gained over 10 years of experience working with civil society and international humanitarian actors. This decade-long journey has given her the chance to explore various contexts across West and Central Africa (Central African Republic, Guinea, Liberia, Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, Niger, Cameroon, Nigeria, Senegal, and Burkina Faso) and in various positions (grants manager, head of program, quality and reporting, country director…).

Marie is a people-centered person, enthusiastic about innovations and always looking for change and contributing to make the world a more inclusive and better place. She chose to commit her energey to West Africa in general and Sahel in particular.
