Alexa Fischer
Social Media and Digital Communications Officer
“The personal is political.” This foundational assertion by feminist scholar Carol Hanisch continues to shape how I approach communications—as a form of activism, connection, and accountability.
Alexa is the Social Media and Digital Communications Officer at HiiL, where she drives engagement strategies that make people-centred justice not only accessible but resonant. She crafts narratives that translate complex legal ideas into visual, inclusive, and actionable content across platforms—bridging the gap between justice institutions and the people they serve.
Prior to joining HiiL, Alexa worked across the intersection of policy, advocacy, and communication. At UNRWA’s Brussels office, she contributed to high-level advocacy strategies, media monitoring, and stakeholder engagement around the rights of Palestine refugees. As Communications Lead at Mastermind Events, she cultivated safe spaces through digital and live platforms for communities often excluded from public discourse. At the Manushya Foundation, she helped elevate grassroots voices fighting for human rights in Southeast Asia.
She holds an MSc in International Relations and Diplomacy from Leiden University and a BA in International Relations from the University of Groningen, with additional studies in Chinese language and rhetorics. Her intersectional lens, honed through academic research and activism, is foundational to how she shapes digital narratives: with precision, empathy, and a drive to shift systems.
