9th Annual Innovating Justice Forum

21 November 2018

The Forum will take place in Dubai, on the 21th of November.

This year’s Forum will focus on the following theme: “From Justice Innovation to Scale.” The 1-day Forum programme are carefully built based on HiiL’s three pillars aiming for the creation of user-friendly justice. Through presenting justice needs data, we ensure that the objectives are evidence-based and grounded in local knowledge. Building on this local connection, we invite 8 - 10 justice innovations from across Africa, Middle East, and Europe to take the justice innovation best practices to the UAE and the region. The Forum also aims to be a platform for leadership conversations around the challenges of scaling, funding, and integrating innovations.

Our past Forums have had the honour in receiving the presence of distinguished guests such as, the H.E. Mr. Abdulla A.J. Al-Majid, Assistant Minister and Chief Innovation Officer, H.E. Chief Justice Bart M. Katureebe Chief Justice of Uganda, Ministry of Justice, UAE, Dr. Willy Mutunga Former Chief Justice of Kenya and founding member of the Justice Leadership Group, and Mr. Mamadou Ismaël Konaté, Former Minister of Justice and Human Rights of the Republic of Mali. In 2017, over 300 attended the sold out event, with numerous sectors represented, including tech, Big Data, legal academics and professionals, students and social entrepreneurs. Representatives were present from the Ford Foundation, The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the UNDP, RMIT University’s Centre for Innovative Justice from Melbourne, LegalZoom and many more.

Therefore, the 2018 Forum is an event that brings together all actors working for better, more accessible and more user-friendly justice. Our aim is to celebrate all members of the justice innovation community around the world, and to provide people from different backgrounds the avenue to start a conversation and to innovate justice together.
