Emilie Dajer

Justice sector advisor Sahel

We live in a world of shared responsibility. We all have a moral obligation to make this world a better, more just place.

Emilie (she/her) is a Justice Sector Advisor for the Sahel Region at the Hague Institute for Innovation of Law (HiiL). She is a New York licensed attorney with a background in immigration, human rights and climate law. Emilie has experience working in European Union institutions, US based nonprofit organisations, and academic institutions. Emilie holds a J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law, and a B.A. in International Studies from Trinity College. A native French and English speaker, she is also fluent in Spanish.

As an immigration attorney in Los Angeles, Emilie defended unaccompanied children in immigration court where she witnessed first-hand the inequities of the judicial system.
The lack of accessibility and transparency in the administration of justice motivated her to transition towards research and policy-based roles.

Outside of work, you can find Emilie exploring the outdoors, reading non-fiction, creatively cooking, or enjoying live music.
