Emilie Dajer

Emilie Dajer

Senior Justice Sector Advisor

By fostering kindness, compassion, and connection, we can strengthen the threads that bind our communities and advance toward greater access to justice for all.

Emilie (she/her) joined the Hague Institute for Innovation of Law (HiiL) in 2022 and currently serves as Senior Justice Sector Advisor for the Sahel team. In this role, she leads and manages research on access to justice in the region, oversees the development of evidence-based methodologies, and works closely with local research teams and justice practitioners.

Emilie is a New York licensed attorney with a background in immigration, human rights and climate law. She has experience working in European Union institutions, US based nonprofit organisations, and academic institutions. Emilie holds a J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law, and a B.A. in International Studies from Trinity College (CT). A native French and English speaker, she is also fluent in Spanish. As an immigration attorney in California, Emilie defended unaccompanied children in immigration court where she witnessed first-hand the inequities of the judicial system. The lack of accessibility and transparency in the administration of justice motivated her to transition towards research and policy-based roles.

Outside of work, you can find Emilie exploring the outdoors, getting lost in a good book, or enjoying live music.
