Martin\u2019s appointment reflects our commitment to bridging practical work with research and development\u2014enhancing knowledge transfer between in-the-field initiatives and expert analysis.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Warwick University, Martin will engage in the advancement of access to justice through collaborative research on the interplay between people\u2019s justice needs and driving forces such as forced migration, climate change, and technological developments. A key focus of his research will be on formulating practical, innovative and user-centred responses to the sizeable justice gap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Martin graduated with a law degree from the University of Sofia, where he also obtained a PhD in Public administration. At HiiL, he has designed and implemented legal needs studies, including our <a href=\"http:\/\/hiil.org\/news\/special-feature-celebrating-10-years-of-the-justice-needs-and-satisfaction-surveys\/\">Justice Needs and Satisfaction (JNS) surveys<\/a> across more than 30 countries. These studies have been instrumental in measuring the justice gap in daily life and highlighting the justice needs of millions of people, thereby supporting the development of better justice outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Martin believes that \u201cOur collective future will be extremely \u2018law-thick\u2019, where justice will hold equal importance as healthcare, education and clean environment. It is still not too late to lay the foundations of justice systems fully centred on the users.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For HiiL, this is an opportunity to further connect our innovative work with rigorous academic research.
