{"id":2006,"date":"2015-06-11T15:05:34","date_gmt":"2015-06-11T15:05:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hiil.org\/?p=2006"},"modified":"2018-09-11T12:47:30","modified_gmt":"2018-09-11T12:47:30","slug":"more-legal-startups-to-improve-access-to-justice-for-40-million-people-by-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hiil.org\/fr\/news\/more-legal-startups-to-improve-access-to-justice-for-40-million-people-by-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"More legal startups to improve access to justice for 40 million people by 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HiiL\u2019s ambition to provide access to justice to at least 40 million people across the world by 2020 received support at the Innovating Justice Summit held in The Hague on Tuesday, 9 June 2015.<\/p>\n<p>HiiL Innovating Justice, together with the\u00a0<a class=\" external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.weforum.org\/content\/global-agenda-council-justice-2014-2016-0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Global Agenda Council on Justice of the World Economic Forum<\/a>, the\u00a0<a class=\" external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.government.nl\/ministries\/bz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.next2company.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Next2Company<\/a>, hosted a Summit on accelerating justice innovation worldwide. A group of 35 \u2013 made up of justice leaders, business leaders, and top level academics came together to coordinate efforts to unlock the much needed innovation potential in the justice sector.<\/p>\n<p>HiiL\u2019s <a href=\"\/what-we-do\/the-justice-accelerator\/\">Innovating Justice Accelerator<\/a>\u00a0was recognised as a crucial intermediary for developing more legal startups around the globe. In its efforts to improve access to justice, HiiL announced its building local Innovating Justice Hubs and establish an investment fund dedicated to justice innovations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat we can create an innovation wave that is similar to the one that has been engulfing the greentech and health sectors. Millions of people have profited from fantastic innovations in those fields,\u201d said HiiL\u2019s Director\u00a0<a href=\"\/team\/sam-muller\/\">Sam Muller<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Participants at the Summit included the\u00a0<a class=\" external\" href=\"http:\/\/justiceleaders.org\/leaders\/willy-mutunga\/\">Chief Justice of Kenya Willy Mutunga<\/a>,\u00a0<a class=\" external\" href=\"http:\/\/justiceleaders.org\/leaders\/athaliah-molokomme\/\">Attorney General of Botswana Athaliah Molokomme<\/a>, representatives from Shell, the World Bank, Open Society Foundations, Thomson Reuters, C&amp;A Foundation, IIX, De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek and the Municipality of The Hague.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>HiiL\u2019s ambition to provide access to justice to at least 40 million people across the world by 2020 received support at the Innovating Justice Summit held in The Hague on Tuesday, 9 June 2015.
