21.09.2009 | HiiL receives further funding
HiiL has received further funding from the Dutch Government to continue its activities. The new funding period is for 2 years, with a strong commitment for another 2 years. The funding - EUR 1.5 million Euros a year - will come from the key HiiL stakeholders within the Dutch government: the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations.
"We are extremely pleased with this news which shows a clear recognition of the importance, value and relevance of what we are doing. At the same time, we feel a clear sense of responsibility, given the trust which has been placed in us once again. We will work very hard indeed to continue to bring the best and most innovative research on what globalisation is doing to national legal systems", says Dr Sam Muller, Director of HiiL.
Mr. Morris Tabaksblat, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of HiiL, adds: “HiiL is very grateful to the Dutch government and in particular the Ministries involved. We will, as a key part of our growth strategy, continue to pursue avenues for more research funding and to broaden our funding base internationally.”
HiiL was established in 2005 when it received funding for a period of 5 years. After a very positive mid-term evaluation HiiL tabled a request in December 2008 for further funding after 2009.
