HiiL Highlights October 2014

In this edition of HiiL Highlights, we profile some of our most exciting developments - from our Justice Needs and Satisfaction Survey in Mali, to the 2014 Innovating Justice Forum, to our recent partnership with the Legal Services Society of British Columbia.

On 15 October, the Ambassador of the Netherlands to Mali and the representative of the EU Delegation in Mali presented the Minister of Justice and Human Rights of Mali with an overview report of HiiL’s Justice Needs and Satisfaction Survey conducted earlier this year in Mali. This is the largest justice needs and satisfaction survey to be conducted in Africa! The Dutch Minister of Development Cooperation will also send the report to the Dutch parliament this week.

After a rough selection process, nine finalists were chosen for our 5th Annual Innovating Justice Forum. These innovators represent three categories: the Living Wage Innovation Challenge, Innovative Ideas and Successful Innovations. They will be here in The Hague on 25-26 November to showcase their innovations and compete for over €120.000 in seed funding. Interested in attending this year’s forum? Send an email to innovatingjusticeforum@hiil.org to find out how you can join this exciting event!

And finally, the Legal Services Society of British Columbia and HiiL Innovating Justice are pleased to announce a partnership for MyLawBC, a new interactive online legal resource for British Columbia. MyLawBC will be based on the interactive Rechtwijzer platform, a public legal resource developed by HiiL in partnership with the Dutch Legal Aid Board and Modria from Silicon Valley.

While we’ve accomplished a lot during these recent months, we have much more work ahead of us. We will have many more developments to share, including the release of our Justice Needs and Satisfaction surveys in Yemen, Indonesia and the Netherlands and the winners of the 2014 Innovating Justice Awards and Living Wage Challenge. Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn!
