Tracking violent conflict in Latin America

Tracking violent conflict in Latin America 17 October 2013

Developing indicators and mediation strategies for a region plagued by violence

The Arias Foundation’s Regional Mechanism for Peace and Conflict Resolution seeks to provide governments and civil society in Latin America with relevant research, innovative methodologies and mediation support for conflicts that jeopardize socio-economic development. Specifically, the Regional Mechanism consists of three components: 1) the Conflict Observatory will develop indicators for identifying and tracking conflict in Latin America; 2) the Peace Education program will compile, distribute and implement effective methodologies for conflict prevention and resolution; 3) and the Mediation Support programme will provide expert mediators to communities or actors involved in a conflict.
