Getting poverty prisoners out of jail

Getting poverty prisoners out of jail 01 November 2013

2013 Human Rights Tulip voting winner

Since 1990, the Children of Female Prisoners Association (CFPA) has taken the tough road of helping a marginalised and socially-oppressed group suffering economic and social injustice.

The vision of the NGO is to change the unfavourable social conditions in Egypt by economically empowering ex-inmates, thus, guaranteeing a better life for their children. These children are potential social time bombs - they need protection and care. The only way to guarantee that they receive this care is by helping their mothers who are more often than not either divorcees, or husbandless mothers whose husbands have abandoned them or could not survive the stigma.
