18 November, 2008: 5th Meeting of the International Criminal Court Legal Tools Outsourcing Partners (LTOP)
On Tuesday November 18, 2008 HiiL and T.M.C. Asser Institute hosted the fifth meeting of the ICC Legal Tools Outsourcing Partners (LTOP). This working meeting of research institutions involved in realizing the ICC Legal Tools project was held at the T.M.C. Asser Institute in The Hague.
The LTOP discussed the most relevant issues connected with their ongoing work of collecting and managing the data within the Legal Tools project as well as further development and organisation of the so-called LTOP Network. As a priority, the launch of a new Legal Tools project website was projected for the early 2009. The website, being a direct result of LTOP work, will feature Legal Tools Database and aspire to offer a complete legal information in the area of international criminal justice.
The Legal Tools are a collection of electronic legal tools and services of the Court, which facilitate the effective research and practice of international criminal law. The Legal Tools aspire to serve as a complete virtual library on international criminal law and justice and, as such, equip users with the legal information, commentaries and software required to work with international criminal law.
Legal Tools Outsourcing Partners include: the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights, the Human Rights Law Center (University of Nottingham), the International Research and Documentation Centre for War Crimes Trials (University of Marburg), the Institute of Informatics and Law (University of Saarland), the Institute of International Law and International Relations (Karl-Franzens University of Graz), TRIAL (Switzerland), HiiL and T.M.C. Asser Institute.
